Some of you that watched the live coverage of the 2011 WSOP Main Event may remember Daniel Negreanu throwing a mild tantrum when he wasnt allowed to talk during a hand at the featured table.

When this went down, I voiced my opinion that I would not be surprised to see that rule changed before the 2012 WSOP.

I wish I had put some money on that.

Earlier today, WSOP announced rule changes that will allow players to talk about anything they want during their hand short of exposing their hand.

This wasnt surprising after Daniels tantrum last year, but also it didnt make a lot of sense to have that rule unless they had proof that players were someone passing messages in code or something.

Officials also announced a change to the anti-celebration rule that will allow for some celebration.

Terrence Chan summed it up best regarding the relaxing of the anti-celebration rule:

Greed is often cited as one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, with the intention to keep it for one’s self, far beyond the dictates of basic survival and comfort. The implication is that greed is a personal trait to be abhorred and avoided, as we teach our children. Yet we find greed throughout our society, even among highly regarded successful people.

A basketball star negotiates a multi-million-dollar contract. Is he greedy? The L.A. Dodgers were sold to a group led by former basketball star Magic Johnson for $2.15 billion, netting owner Frank McCourt a profit of about $1 billion. Was he greedy?

The CEO of a corporation is paid millions of dollars while the company lays off workers on the production line. I

Tory MP Introduces New Online Gambling Bill Targeting Offshore Operators

Posted on May 5th, 2012 by George Harry and filed under Advantage Gambling

For years online bingo operators in the UK have bemoaned the fact that offshore bingo operators had a very unfair tax advantage. While online bingo and gambling operators in the UK are subject to a 15% to 20% tax rate some offshore operators are paying as little as 1% in taxes. Land based bingo hall operators have been faced with higher gaming machine taxes and local licensing fees have skyrocketed during the past two years putting further pressure on hall operators. UK operators are not pleased that offshore operators are free to advertise their services to UK players if they are located in ‘white list’ licensing jurisdictions.

In late March Matthew Hancock, the MP for West Suffolk published his proposed offshore gaming bill. Han
