The $1.7 Million Dollar Moment

Not to brag or anything but we really think our photographer BJ Nemeth has captured some of the best images at the 2011 WSOP.

That said, he truly outdid himself with this latest snap.

The photo was taken just as Brian Rast, who came from an almost insurmountable chip deficit heads up, managed to fade a third straight flush draw and bust Phil Hellmuth in a hand that would have likely decided the tournament either way.

Rast picked up $1.7 million for his efforts in the tournament. And that’s Antonio Esfandiari jumping over the rail to hug his friend by the way.

For those who don’t know, it’s a serious challenge to get great winner shots when players leave the final table.

The problem is that although the final table is well lit, the audience is purposely dark to provide a solid contrast for the ESPN video cameras.

Somehow BJ pulled it off, however, and the result is a photo that captures the sheer emotion and exhilaration that No-Limit Hold’em sometimes provides.
