July 19 – It’s no surprise MLB bookmakers have the Texas Rangers as the -135 favorites in their showdown against the Los Angeles Angels at Angels Stadium in Los Angeles tonight, judging by their current 11-game winning streak.

Not only will the Rangers be looking to make it 12 in a row this evening, but they’ll be eager to retain their 4-game lead in the AL West standings. Plus, a cleansweep against the Angels should certainly ensure their place in the postseason.
Particularly notable is the Rangers’ formidable pitching during this streak, having allowed a mere two runs in the last five games and given away a paltry 2.18 runs per game on average. And much credit for this must go to Alexi Ogando.
The Angels will be under pressure to stop the Rangers tonight
When Rangers manager Ron Washington put the right-handed youngster on the roster this season, even he couldn’t have predicted what a powerhouse Ogando would turn out to be, who is 9-3 this season with a phenomenal 2.92 ERA.
And it won’t be lost on MLB betting fans that Ogando allowed just one run in 6 1/3 innings earlier this season against the Angels, which lowered his ERA to a graceful 0.64 against the team from Los Angeles, who will up against it tonight.
Despite their home advantage, the Los Angeles Angels will be under much pressure to prevent the Texas Rangers from dominating the three-game series which kicks off tonight. Particularly under the gun is Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia.
Scioscia could only watch in horror as his team lost three out four games against the lack-luster Oakland Athletics on the weekend, which certainly would have him asking the question of what chance his team has against the mighty Texans?
Tonight’s game should be a humdinger no matter what the result
For our MLB betting buck, not a lot. That said, if Angels’ rookie Tyler Chatwood brings his A-game tonight, LA might have a shot of taking down the Rangers, considering he is 5-5 on the season in 17 starts, and has an ERA of 3.62.
But while Chatwood has the potential to bring the Angels back from the brink, it will also not be lost on MLB betting fans that he can be very inconsistent. For instance, in just 99 1/3 innings, the youngster issued a whopping 52 walks.
So without a doubt tonight’s game will be crucial for both teams, which is why it should be a real humdinger, no matter what the result. Interestingly, during their last 22 meetings, the ‘under’ has gone 13-5-4, including 4-2 this season.
